June 14, 2013 (LBO) - Brandix, an apparel group said its workers who had donated blood voluntarily had been recognized for making the firm the largest company to have contributed to the National Blood Transfusion Service.

Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapaksa had given a plaque appreciation which had been received by Brandix chief people officer Ishan Dantanarayana at a ceremony organized by the blood transfusion service to recognize top donors.

Brandix, had started a blood collection drive at its factories in 2007, had become the top corporate donor for three years since 2010.




Its workers had so far given 10,000 pints of blood.

"The response of our associates to this initiative has always been inspiring," Dantanarayana was quoted as saying in a statement.


"A strong sense of altruism and nation-mindedness is very evident at all levels in the organisation, and the corporate management of Brandix has extended its endorsement and fullest support to expand the campaign each year."

Awards had been given under the categories of individual, religious organizations and private sector categories.
