Sep 16, 2015 (LBO) – Asian markets opened positive on Wednesday following a day of positive trading in the US markets on Tuesday, foreign media reported.
The US markets showed gains of over one percent as investors anticipated a positive two day Federal Reserve meeting that kicks off on Wednesday.
However, analysts are still divided on whether the U.S. central bank will this week lift short-term interest rates for the first time in nine years.
Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 index is up 0.97 percent with gains seen in export-oriented and banking counters.
China’s Shanghai Composite is up 0.41 percent so far.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index is up over one percent at 1.19.
South Korea’s index is up 1.7 percent with securities, technology and oil-related plays among early gainers.
