April 01, 2009 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s central bank said it has promoted four Assistant Governors, Rose Cooray, K G D D Dheerasinghe, Uthum Herat and D S Wijesinghe to the post of Deputy Governor. Cooray’s promotion was with effect from March 13 while the others will be promoted in May and July 2009.
“These promotions have been made in line with the succession plan of the bank and to address the new challenges of the Central Bank,” it said in a statement.
Cooray has 35 years of experience in wide areas of Central Bank activities including economic research, human resources management, secretariat, legal, regional development, banking development, fiscal policy, and communications.
She has also served as Secretary to the Monetary Board.
Dheerasinghe has been in the Central Bank for 32 years and has wide experience in Economic Research Department, Statistics Department, Public Debt Department, Bank Supervision Department and Information Technology Department.
