Lanka Bell says they expect to complete the first phase of their deployment in three months.

Telecom industry is also confident of meeting the three hundred thousand line target, set by the regulator, over the next three years using the technology.

They say it’s easier to connect rural areas with CDMA.

“We have signed the agreement with the Ministry of Telecom and the TRC to deploy 300, 000 line over the next three years to rural Sri Lanka. We will be spending about US$ 35m in the next three months,” says Suren Goonewardene, Deputy Managing Director, Lanka Bell.
