The roll out of a free incoming to mobile phones regime is being pushed back once again, this time to allow for greater public awareness.
The telecom watchdog on Feb. 12 said the Caller Party Pays (CPP) regime would be effective from March 1, with fixed line users paying up to Rs. 5 more for calling mobiles. rn
rnHowever, even at the time of the announcement, policymakers were reconsidering implementing CPP on the grounds that not enough time was given to the public to understand the new costs involved. rn
rnBy Monday, strong reports were out confirming the delay in implementing CPP. rn
rnNew time frames for implementing CPP are still under discussion. Initial indications suggests a date after April 2 polls. rn
