The Connaissance Group tied up with Maldivian luxury hotel and spa managers Per Aquum on Thursday, to take over management of its new boutique hotel, Fortress Resorts. The team will manage the Dutch style boutique resort in Galle for ten years, as part of Connaissance plans to spin off management of its niche, upmarket hotels.

Per Aquum Resorts and Spas manages seven luxury retreats, in the Maldives, two of them resorts, and five spas under its two spa brands – Aqum spa and Sen Spa.

Literally translated, Per Aquum means ‘through water’, with the Fortress being the specialist company’s first venture into Sri Lanka.

“We are delighted to bring The Fortress into the Per Aquum collection,” Per Aquum Managing Director, Tom McLoughlin said Thursday.

“Sri Lanka is showing tremendous potential for growth and we believe that Per Aquum’s management experience combined with that of Fortress Resort will ensure it becomes Sri Lanka’s premium resort.”
