Sept 29, 2011 (LBO) – Sri Lanka will borrow around 500 million US dollars from local banks to pay domestic contractors who will pave national highways and provincial roads with concrete. The Cabinet of ministers has approved a proposal by the Ministry of Highways for the project to repair part of the road network, a statement said.

It includes 266.35 kilometres of provincial roads and 662 km of national highways.

Provincial roads to be repaired are Polonnaruwa-Somawathiya (33 km), Chilaw- Wariyapola (29 km), Narammala-Dankotuwa (16.03 km), Anamaduwa-Galgamuwa (39.11 km), Naula-Elahera-Laggala-Pallegama (30km), Kesbewa- Kindelpitiya- Bandaragama (11.78 km), Ampara-Uhana-Mahaoya (30 km), Matara- Hakmana (24.14 km) and Tennekumbura- Rikillagaskada-Ragala (53.29 km).
