SriLankan Cargo is offering a web based supply chain management solutions to cut costs and speed up the documentation process for its customers. The national carrier says e-HAWB (electronic House Air Way Bill), cuts up to 80 percent of costs on cargo manifests.
While the industry norm for submitting a manual HAWB is around US$ 10, e-HAWB registered customers of SriLankan SkyChain will only pay a nominal charge.
Registration is free, and access is both convenient and cost effective as the system is internet based.
Pioneered by SriLankan’s partner Dubai’s Emirates Airlines, SkyChain is the reservations and operations system, which incorporates the whole supply chain from reservations to delivery of a shipment.
Customers can now check SriLankan Airlines’ flight schedules and space availability, book online in real time; communicate with logistics suppliers, receive automatic notifications of the shipment’s progress; and print full air way bills from any location.
