Russia and the CIS lead the buying with 49.1 million kilos, followed by UAE 19.9 million kilos, Syria 19.6 million kilos, Turkey 16.4 million kilos and Iran 11.5 million kilos.

Russia and the CIS have reflected a gain of 3.2 million kilos whilst Turkey shows a gain of 5.1 million kilos compared with the same period 2003.

A review of the different export categories indicates that tea in bulk accounted for 127.1 million kilos or 64% of all shipments, moving up 1.5 million kilos over the year.

Total value added exports amount to 36%. The drop in packet tea shipments, 43.5 million kilos against 54.5 million kilos last year made the largest drop.

A positive feature is exports in Tea Bags which have grown from 9.9 million kilos in 2003 to 11.3 million kilos in 2004.

Green Tea shipments also increased that market share by 77 % in the current year to 1.6 million kilos.

Total value of exports at Rs. 46 billion, is 12% up over the year.
