Sept 22, 2012 (LBO) - A group of 16 boat people who have opted to return to Sri Lanka has been sent back by a special flight, an Australian government statement said.





Australia however has said it will increase places for migration through prescribed or 'legal' channels.

Sri Lanka's military has also 'arrested' boat people, though the country does not have an exit visa requirement.

European fascist-nationalist states and countries behind the former iron curtain are among nations that had exit visa requirements.

Article 12 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says that everyone "has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country."

Visas and were invented during the last century with the decline of liberal human values and the rise of nationalism in Europe which led to two world wars.

But now within the EU region, most types of visas have been removed.

In Asia the ASEAN region has already eliminated tourist visas.

The group of men had decided not to pursue their immigration claims in Nauru or Papua New Guinea, the statement said.
