The 930 kilometre journey will run through Sri Lanka’s coastal belt, hills and historical cities giving exposure to the island’s diverse attractions.
The rally which was launched mid March this year in Bangladesh has already traveled through Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan and India.
“The objective of the rally is to promote connectivity, people to people contact, trade, tourism and road transport in the region” its promoters said.
The rally is funded through a public-private partnership with Sri Lanka Insurance and Ceylon Chamber of Commerce chipping in with the Government of Sri Lanka.
“The rally has symbolized vividly the regional identity, forged new friendship and strengthened goodwill among the peoples of the region,” Sri Lanka's foreign ministry said.
Thirty cars on tour were shipped to Sri Lanka from Mumbai port onboard an Indian Navy vessel with the 100 participants arriving in Colombo by air.
The Rally will end in the Maldives on the 13th of April.
