Global Cover

Sept 19, 2007 (LBO) – Sri Lankans traveling abroad can apply for international health insurance introduced by Aviva Insurance that will cover the cost of medical care abroad, officials said Wednesday. The insurance plans offered by Aviva's local partner Eagle Insurance go up to two million dollars in annual coverage.

They cover health costs whether the policyholder or his/her family is at home or traveling on business or leisure.

"We would be targeting the high net worth individuals and expatriates who are temporarily resident in Sri Lanka. People who come in for employment and extended holidays will also be targeted in our selling process," Deepthi Lokuarachchi, general manager insurance distribution and risk, Eagle Insurance said.

Aviva's IFS Global Health will arrange payment guarantees or settle directly with hospitals where policyholders seek treatment.

The policy 'Classic' has a one million dollar annual limit per insured person while 'Supreme' has 1.6 million dollars.

The highest policy, 'Elite', has an annual coverage of two million dollars.

Being an international cover, the policy needs no additional underwriting in case the family is relocated.
