Oct 03, 2013 (LBO) - The first of seven Sri Lankan flagged ships plying international waters recently received International Labour Organisation certification for meeting the requirements of the Maritime Labour Convention of 2006.







It is on charter to Safmarine, a company in the AP Moller-Maersk group and trades on the EURWAF service from Europe to West Africa.



MV Safmarine Longa, with a full Sri Lankan complement, received the MLC2006 certification at the Port of Antwerp Belgium by Germanischer Lloyd under the voluntary certification scheme provided by the Sri Lankan Flag Administration.

MV Safmarine Longa was built in 2010 and is owned by the Mercmarine Group of companies.
