Sri Lanka prescribes minimum qualifications for medical education

Dec 13, 2017 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s cabinet has approved a proposal to prescribe minimum A Level qualifications for medical education in universities established in the country.

As per the proposal, two credit passes and one simple pass at the GCE Advanced Level exam in one sitting for chemistry, physics and biology is necessary for medical education. The proposal prepared by the Medical council has received the consensus from University Grants Commission and Attorney General. It has been decided to publish the proposal in gazette as regulations under Medical Ordinance.
