Malaysia’s AirAsia cuts pre-booked meal prices

Mar 01, 2012 (LBO) - AirAisa, a Malaysia based budget carrries said it had cut in-flight meals as much as 30 percent in the wake of a cut in check-in baggage fees two weeks earlier. "AirAsia always strives to listen to our guests, and take into account their feedback on how we can make their AirAsia experience a better one," AirAsia's regional head of commercial, Kathleen Tan said in a statement.

"In line with our efforts to reduce travel costs and provide more value to our guests, we decided to revise our pre-booked in-flight meal prices as well, apart from the recent reduction of check-in baggage and sports equipment fees.

"

The airline said a hot meal with mineral water that was earlier priced at between 9 and 12 Malaysian ringgit will now be at 7.90 and 9.90 ringgit.

Low cost carriers have a basic ticket price with carry-on luggage. Checked baggage, meals and seat picks are offered as add-ons.

Rising fuel prices have pushed up ticket prices over the past year at many airlines.
