Many trapped in Pakistan hotel after bombing

ISLAMABAD, September 20, 2008 (AFP) – Many people are trapped inside the hotel in the Pakistan capital Islamabad after a massive bombing at the site Saturday killed at least 27 people, police said. At least 20 bodies could be seen at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad following the large bomb blast, an AFP photographer said. The blast was so loud it was heared far and wide.

Ambulances rushed to the blast site and television footage showed the bloodied walking dazed from what appeared to be the blazing hotel.

Cars parked nearby had their windows blown out and were badly damaged.

Witnesses said windows of buildings close to the luxury hotel were also blown through.
