Trade unions in People’s Bank are calling upon members who have been involved in the GoldQuest scheme to come forward and seek their assistance if they are scared to come forward individually. The Ceylon Bank Employees Union, People's Bank branch say members who are scared to come forward because of threats, can bring their grievances to the Union who will try to help them collectively lodge a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Authority in an attempt to get their money back.
"The problem is some underground elements are connected with these activities and our people are scared to come forward," a Union official said.
The People's Bank Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya (NSS) Branch also say they are backing the CBEU call.
"We are fully behind any decision that CBEU takes," an NSS official said.
