Names to look out for at Beijing Olympics

PARIS, July 13, 2008 (AFP) – AFP Sports Service has chosen a selection of athletes who could be grabbing the headlines during the Beijing Olympics:- ATHLETICS

Muna Lee (USA)

Two weeks after her car was struck by a drunken driver and her shoulder was hurt, this thin 27-year-old speedster known more for her 200m efforts beat two former world champions to win the 100 at the US Olympic Trials.

Lee finished seventh in the 200 at the 2004 Olympics and in 2005 helping the Americans claim gold in the 4×100 relay at Helsinki, where she finished seventh in the 100m.

The Kansas City-born star who now trains in Texas follows in the footsteps of another Kansan Comet – retired 100-meter star Maurice Greene.

Lee is the sort who can lurk in the background behind more heralded runners and suddenly be poised to strike. She says the end of her race is the best part for her, finding no problem in chasing down rivals before the line.
