New Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army assumes office

The newly-appointed Chief of Staff (CoS) of the Sri Lanka Army Major General Mahesh Senanayake, assumed office this morning (29) during a brief ceremony at the Army Headquarters.

He is the 50th Chief of Staff of the Army after the Sri Lanka Army was raised in 1949.

Members of the Maha Sangha invoked blessings on his new appointment chanting ‘Pirith’.

The newly-appointed Chief of Staff symbolizing the acceptance of the new office placed his signature for an official document at the auspicious minute.

Major General Renaka Udawaththe, Deputy Chief of Staff and a few Principal Staff Officers and Senior Officers were present during the occasion.
