Emirates airline opens new Sri Lanka office

July 27, 2011 (LBO) - Dubai-based Emirates has opened a new office in Colombo which the firm said will help handle a larger volume of customers.
Emirates operates 28 services a week to Sri Lanka. Of these, 21 services are westward to Male and Dubai, while seven are eastward to Singapore.

"We are committed to this market and to support the growth of tourism and the country’s dynamic export sector," Emirates’ senior vice president for commercial operations in West Asia & Indian Ocean said in a statement.

"The refurbishment and relocation of our city office in Colombo is also a symbolic expression of our commitment to the destination."

The office in Colombo's Hemas Building, headquarter of Sri Lanka's Hemas' group. Emirates' general sales agent in Colombo, Forbes Forbes Air Services is a Hemas group unit.

Emirates launched services to Colombo in April 1986. The Emirates now flies to 113 destinations on six continents.
