Europe overtakes US as top Chinese investment destination

BEIJING, Feb 17 (Asia Pulse) - Europe replaced the US as China's biggest overseas investment destination for the first time in 2011, according to a report by the 21st Business Herald.
China's investment in Europe surged to US$10.4 billion in 2011 from US$4.1 billion in 2010 and the ratio of investment in Europe to China's total overseas investment increased to 34 per cent in 2011 from 10 per cent in 2010, according to a report released by private equity investment fund A CAPITAL.

In the meantime, China's investment in the US tumbled over 50 per cent in 2011, and the ratio fell from 34 per cent to 21 per cent.

According to the report, investment in resources-related business took the lion's share of China's investment in Europe, accounting for 43 per cent of the total.
