International aviation regulations require airlines to perform a “C” check every 24 months.
“Along with the “C” check, most operators, including IndiGo, take the opportunity to upgrade the condition of their aircraft through modifications,” said Priyantha Rose, head of engineering at SriLankan.
“Some modifications which affect aircraft airworthiness and safety are mandatory. Other modifications which improve reliability or reduce operating costs are optional,” he added.
SriLankan Engineering has also carried out major maintenance activities on aircraft of their own and other regional carriers such as Pakistan’s Airblue, as well as routine work on aircraft of several airlines that operate to the Bandaranaike International Airport.
