Sri Lanka ComBank promotes MoneyGram funds transfer
01 Sep, 2008 15:20:57
Sept 01, 2008 (LBO) – Sri Lanka's Commercial Bank, in a bid to raise awareness on its MoneyGram fund transfer method, plans to give away air tickets to its customers, the bank said in a statement.
Two return air tickets to Mumbai will be available for MoneyGram customers of the Commercial Bank of Ceylon with the launch of a new promotion, the bank said.

The promotion will be held during September and October.

It launched the promotion to increase awareness about the service to channel remittances through the bank, said Pradeep Banduwansa, senior manager e-Banking division of Commercial Bank.

MoneyGram guarantees that the full amount of the remittance will be paid with no charges to the beneficiary.

Money can be remitted from over 152,000 locations in 180 countries and collected at 167 branches of Commercial Bank in Sri Lanka.

Com Bank’s network covers 167 computer-linked branches and supermarket banking counters and 321 ATMs in Sri Lanka while its operations in Bangladesh have grown to nine branches.

Commercial Bank signed up with MoneyGram, a global funds transfer company last year to further enhance its market share in the remittance business and to expand its presence to the other parts of the world, especially the West.
