Sri Lanka Cricket bans noisy horns from grounds
29 Jul, 2012 21:43:26
July 29, 2012 (LBO) – Sri Lanka Cricket has banned spectators from bringing noisy portable horns and hooters to the venues with immediate effect.
“Sri Lanka Cricket arrived at this decision to generally safeguard spectator comfort inside spectator areas of the stadium,” the governing body said in a brief statement on Sunday.

“This does not mean that the papare bands are banned. These are individual horns brought in by the spectators,” the statement said.

Sri Lanka is currently in the midst of a one-day series with neighbouring India and meet the reigning World Cup champs for the fourth game at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday.

The visitors are up 2-1 in the series after winning the third one-day at the Premadasa Stadium on Saturday.

“We will be implementing this rule on Tuesday,” the cricket board said.

The two sides meet for the fifth game in Pallekele in Kandy on August 4 and a one-off Twenty20 match at the same venue on August 7.

“The public are warned that the security personnel will search for the above items very strictly and will confiscate the item if found on the spectator.”
