Sri Lanka evaluating proposals for Trinco port industries
10 Jul, 2012 23:45:17
July 10, 2012 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's state-run ports agency is evaluating nine proposals from nine investors to build industries near the northeastern port of Trincomalee, chairman Priyath Wickrema said.
"Most probably we may get about five investors finalized," Wickrema said in the sideline of a forum organized by Seatrade, an shipping policy event management firm.

Proposals have been received in the areas including cement, ship building, ship repair and fish processing.

Sri Lanka's Hambantota port has already received about 800 million US dollars of investments and a second investment round where bids are closing on August 2012 is expected to net a further billion US dollars of projects he said.
