July 21, 2011 (LBO) - Canada-based Four Seasons leisure group is in discussions to set up a resort in Sri Lanka following the end of a 30-year, deputy economic development minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene said.
Abeywardene said the group was interested in Kalpitiya in the north western coast among other locations.

He said a team was due on July 27 for discussions and evaluate sites.

Sri Lanka's tourist development agency has offered several state-owned islets for development off Kalpitiya.

Sri Lanka has offered 12 islets off Kalpitiya for tourism development and two have so far been taken by investors.

Hong Kong based Shangri La had already bought state land in the capital's main beachfront for a 500 million US dollar mixed development.

It is also building a resort in Hambantota in the South of the island.
