Sri Lanka give nod to warehouses at Hambantota port

June 28, 2012 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's ports agency will lease land to three companies to build warehouses at a new industrial port in Hambantota in the island's south, minister Keheliya Rambukwelle said.
A cabinet appointed negotiation committee has selected three bidder to operate warehouses at the port, which has been approved by the cabinet of ministers, he said.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority has been promoting Hambantota as an industrial, bulk processing and transshipment port.

A cabinet note said three companies will be given land on 15 year leases to build warehouse facilities at the port investing 15.5 million US dollars.

McLarens Holdings Ltd, will invest 4.0 million US dollars on a 2.5 hectare block, Ace Distripartks (Pvt) Ltd, will invest 3.0 million US dollars on a 2.0 hectare block and Agalawatte Plantaions Plc, will invest 8.5 million in 3.0 hectares of land.
