Sri Lanka Hayleys sees another independent director quitting
24 Jun, 2011 14:53:00
June 24, 2011 (LBO) - Another independent director of Sri Lanka's Hayleys conglomerate has decided not to seek re-election at its forthcoming annual general meeting, the company said in a stock exchange filing.
A M Senaratna, an independent non-executive director, whose re-election was scheduled for the AGM to be held on June 29, has notified the board of directors he shall not be standing for re-election, it said.

In April, independent director Trevine Jayasekera, who was to come up for retirement by rotation at the AGM, told the board he was not standing for re-election.

The moves by the independent directors not to seek re-election come in the wake of a bid for full control of the Hayleys group by its single largest shareholder Dhammika Perera.
