Sri Lanka storms kills 16, over 30 missing
26 Nov, 2011 19:22:43
Nov 26, 2011 (LBO) - Heavy rain and strong winds that lashed Sri Lanka yesterday had left 16 people dead and at least 33 missing in several parts of Sri Lanka, the island's disaster management office said.
Authorities are still searching for more than 30 fishermen reported missing.

Heavy winds that lashed the island had also damaged more than 2,500 houses with roofs of many houses being swept away.

Sri Lanka's meterological office has forecast more rain and warned fishermen.

Sri Lanka has had unusually heavy rains and floods early in 2011 and after May its main monsoon partially failed.

Was warning given before or after boats had left? According to Sunday Times, there was a problem. Worth investigating. This kind of weather allows for prediction.
