Sri Lanka to start tourist call centre

By Jayantha Kovilagodage
July 22, 2011 (LBO) - Sri Lanka plans to start an international call centre which will provide assistance and information to tourists, chairman of the country's tourism development authority Nalaka Godahewa said.
"We will call for proposals from local firms in two to three weeks," Godahewa said. "We hope to receive innovative solutions.

"A call centre like this could perhaps be self-financed with advertisements."

Godahewa said the call centre was part of a strategy to use information technology to support the tourist industry.

Sri Lanka Tourist Development Authority was already testing a system with Mobitel, a mobile firm to give site information, he said.

2014 … That is the fifth year when Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau issues a call for tender in France for its advertising campaign. That is also the fifth year when Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau will not make an advertising campaign in France. That represent more than 300 working weeks unpaid for all the agencies which answered to the appeal of offers. Congratulations to Mr. Rumy Jauffer - Managing Director, Sri Lanka Tourism - for this peach of ideas without paying anything and thank you for this good Image of Sri Lanka!
