02 Feb, 2013 09:16:29
Feb 02, 2013 (LBO) - The International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute (IBAHARI) said visas for a delegation to visit Sri Lanka had been denied by authorities.
IBAHARI said the delegation "has been forced to postpone a planned visit to Sri Lanka to assess the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary due to the last minute withdrawal of permission to enter the country," IBAHARI said in a statement.

The organization a visa issued to one member on January 18 had been revoked on January 29 while approval to enter the country was suspended in the case of other delegates on January 29 and 30.

The delegation was expected to meet members of the legal profession, government and civil society.
