"The Sri Lankan delegation is visiting this show with the aim of forging business partnership and identifying potential suppliers," the Indian High Commission said in a statement.
The visiting businessmen are seeking suppliers of machinery in the textiles, printing, pharmaceuticals, food processing, packaging, and agriculture sectors.
They are also looking for suppliers of machinery parts, auto parts, pumps, fasteners, hand tools, cutting tools, electrical home appliances, building materials and hardware.
"This is the first such delegation from Sri Lanka to visit India exclusively to source engineering items," the statement said.
The visit was organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) in cooperation with EEPC. During the visit NCCSL and EEPC will sign an agreement for future cooperation.
IESS 2012 is India’s largest international engineering sourcing fair and is meant to showcase of India’s manufacturing capabilities to an international audience.
The statement said IESS 2012 will be a networking platform for business, international trade, investment, joint ventures and even mergers and acquisitions.
More than 300 exhibitors from India and abroad and over 600 international business delegates from Sri Lanka, USA, Canada, Europe, Middle East, ASEAN, Africa, and the former Soviet Union are to participate in the event.Major Indian companies participating are Tata Motors, SUZLON, Finolex Cable , Birla Precision , Miranda Tools , Mukund , and Stuzl-Chspl India.
