Sri Lanka's John Keells to process meat in India

April 24, 2008 (LBO) – Sri Lanka's Keells Food Products, a unit of the John Keells group said it was setting up a fully owned meat processing plant in India.
John Keells India (Pvt) Ltd (JKFIL) will manufacture and market meat products.

"The products of JKFIL will reach the key metro cities across India," Keells Food Products said in a statement.

Keells Food has been exporting processed meats to India from Sri Lanka in the last few years.

John Keells group sell meat products under two brands, Keells and Elephant House, which was originally operated as a separate unit under its Ceylon Cold Stores unit.

Keells Food is a listed firm. The stock closed up 3.00 rupees at 63.00 on Thursday.
