No disruption to service despite damage to one aircraft: Cinnamon Air

Cinnamon Air advises that one of its aircraft suffered damage to one of its amphibious floats whilst on the water at the Polgolla Reservoir in Kandy, on 22nd December 2016. The aircraft had landed and was taxiing to the dock at the reservoir when it encountered a submerged tree trunk which damaged one float. There were no passengers aboard at the time of the incident.

Temporary repairs were effected to the float on site and the aircraft was safely flown to the Cinnamon Air hangar facility at Katunayake, where repair to the float is underway. The aircraft will return to service shortly but in the meantime, Cinnamon Air advises all passengers that there will be no disruptions to its regular, scheduled services and its charter services.

All Cinnamon Air scheduled flights operate in code share with SriLankan Airlines, consequent to which they are also available for sale throughout the SriLankan Airlines network and all Travel Agents around the world via Global Distribution Systems, under a “UL” designated flight number.

Cinnamon Air, owned and operated by Saffron Aviation (Pvt.) Limited, is a joint venture between Sri Lanka’s largest listed conglomerate, John Keells Holdings PLC, MMBL Leisure Holdings (Pvt.) Limited (a part of the Mercantile Merchant Bank Group) and Phoenix Ventures (Pvt.) Limited. Cinnamon Air also offers charter services to and between all Airports and Water Aerodromes in Sri Lanka.
