No Probe

July 30, 2013 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's finance ministry was not probing an allegation of pay-offs in a land deal with India's Krrish group because there was no complaint by the investor, top officials aid.

Krrish in a statement last week, denied that any pay-offs had been made for the land deal.

Finance secretary P B Jayasundera told editors of Sri Lanka's media houses during a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa that the investor concerned had not made a complaint for the finance ministry to launch a probe.

He was replying a query about whether a probe was being conducted over an alleged pay-off by Krrish to a top official who had been since removed from some positions but continues to remain in a key post.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa said authorities were however looking into the matter since there had been some media reports.

Journalists were invited to name person involved.
