Norway has allocated Rs. 1.7 billion towards Sri Lanka’s post tsunami relief work, the Royal Norwegian Embassy said Thursday. Norway has allocated Rs. 1.7 billion towards Sri Lanka’s post tsunami relief work, the Royal Norwegian Embassy said Thursday. About Rs. 906 million of the funds, will be earmarked for humanitarian relief to provide temporary shelter, water and sanitation, distribution of food and non-food items.

The balance 800 million will go towards short and medium term development projects in the tsunami affecte south, east and north of Sri Lanka.

Besides this, Norway has also allocated around Rs. 800 million to the UN’s flash appeal channelled through UNDP, FAO and WHO.
