The market moved up by Rs 24.5 bn, or 6.5 percent, from Rs 376.4bn to Rs 400.9 bn during the day.
A total turnover of Rs 1,037 mn was recorded during the days trading – the highest daily turnover recorded since November 5, 2003.
The good day was attributed to LIOC share trading that accounted for 85 percent of total turnover of the day.
The All Share Price Index(ASPI) closed nearly 40 points up at 1,578.28 at the end of trading.
The ASPI recorded a growth of 516.2 points (48.6 percent) making Colombo the best performing stock exchange in the world.
The CSE upgraded its automated trading system with recently to accommodate larger volumes of trade.
