“Parliament is disturbed”: Harsha de Silva

SLFP Protest

Apr 20, 2015 (LBO) – A group Sri Lanka’s United Peoples Freedom Alliance parliamentarians, led by Bandula Gunawardene are protesting by seating on the floor of the chamber saying that the Bribery Commission of Sri Lanka do not have powers to summon and question former president Mahinda Rajapakse, Harsha de Silva said in his Facebook page.

“Bandula Gunawardene leads a group of MPs supporting former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to disrupt proceedings in Parliament,” de Silva said.

“The complaint is that it is ‘not proper’ for the Bribery Commission to speak to him on the Tissa Atttanayake matter,”

Their argument is that the Bribery Commission cannot ask questions from the former President and his brother Gotabhaya Rajapaksa – What do you think, de silva asked.

“Can they continue to be above the law? What do you think?.”
