Toshiba on Tuesday put out its range laptops, fitted with Clear SuperView (CSV) screens that offer users a sharper and brighter viewing experience.

With the government cutting off 0.5 percent off the current 3 percent import duty on all computers and Value Added Tax (VAT) unchanged at 15 percent, Toshibas latest range will retail at prices ranging above Rs. 180,000.

Local partners John Keells Office Automation (JKOA) says some 300 laptops fly off the shelves each month within the whole industry, bought largely by the corporate sector.

Sri Lanka’s total laptop population has not been estimated but industry statistics indicate that PC numbers are closing in on the 100,000 mark.
