An independent US economic think tank says that a potential trade pact with the United States will help the Sri Lankan economy grow by at least three-percent.
The International Institute for Economics (IIE) in an ongoing study says that a US-Lanka free trade pact “will have far reaching positive implications on Sri Lankas economy and predicts that the GDP of Sri Lanka will grow by 3.0 percent to 3.5 percent annually resulting from the FTA.”rn
rnThe IIE is a private, non-profit, non-partisan research institution devoted to the study of international economic policy.rn
rnStudies conducted by Washington based think-tanks such as the IIE are being used by US policy makers, business community and industrial organizations to make informed decisions. rn
