Profits of the Distilleries group, which controls the unlisted Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation, has doubled to a billion rupees in the June quarter, according to interim results released by the company.
After tax profits for the group rose to 1.06 billion rupees from 501 million rupees, a growth of 112 percent, while profits after minority interest grew 84 percent to 892 million.
Distilleries Company itself earned 493 million rupees after tax, up 28 percent from the same quarter last year, driving earnings per share to 6.58.
At group level earnings rose to 11.90 rupees per share from 6.46 rupees.
The share closed up 1.25 rupees at 47 rupees on Wednesday.
Consolidated group turnover climbed to 11.4 billion rupees from 7.9 billion rupees.
Group assets rose to 64 billion rupees from 53 billion rupees.
