Sept 01, 2008 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Hemas group says its tour operating unit will be more active in the Maldives after a tie-up with Zurich based Diethelm Travel Group (DTH). Hemtours says it has been in business for more than 30 years.
DTH is a subsidiary of Diethelm Keller Holdings, headquartered in Zurich, a closely held family company principally owned by fourth generation descendants of the founders.
Hemas has re-branded its Hemtours unit as Diethelm Travel Sri Lanka from today.
“We recently sought to strengthen our Sri Lankan business by finding a partner with a truly global distribution reach,” Hemas Holdings group director Abbas Esufally said in a statement.
“We will be expanding our footprint to the Maldives in the near future.”
Hemas says the DTH group has provided travel services within Far East region for more than a half century.
DTH has a network of offices in Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
“Our international clientele has been requesting for a ˜Diethelm Travel’ presence in Sri Lanka and the Maldives for quite some time,” DTH chief executive John Watson said.
