Regulator Chief

Sept 19, 2011 (LBO) – Sri Lanka was re-elected to chair the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) at its 51st council meeting held in Trinidad and Tobago, the state information office said. Pelpita said Sri Lanka looked forward to working with Tim Unwin, the CTOs new chief executive and thanked outgoing CEO Ekwow Spio-Garbrah for his contribution.

At the 50th council meeting held in Colombo last year, proceedings were chaired by by the chairman of Sri Lanka’s telecom regulator Lalith Weeratunga, who is also the secretary to Sri Lanka’s president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

This year’s sessions were chaired by Anusha Pelpita, director general of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka.
