June 6, 2013 (LBO) – Sri Lanka Ports Authority inked a deal for a 44 million US dollar yatch and shipbuilding facility, Thursday with Saudi Arabia based Hadi Hamad Al-Hammam Groupâ€™s Seagulf Shipyard (Pvt) Ltd, the state port agency said.
Chairman of SLPA, Priyath Wickrama, Hadi Hamad Al-Hammam, president, Hadi Hamad Al-Hammam Group and Nazeer Ahamed, director of the Sea Gulf Shipyard (Pvt) Ltd were signatories to the agreement.
The project includes the design and construction of syncrolift of 1500 Ton capacity to accommodate yachts pleasure crafts and the positioning a floating dock of 4500 Ton capacity on temporary basis subject to â€˜Barge Fomenteraâ€™ being removed from the Colsenburg Quay.
A repair facility of yachts has been much essential to promote the yacht marina in the Port of Galle.â€ The SLPA statement said.
The Port agency will get the land lease payments, charges and royalty payments as an income to the port.
