Sept 24, 2008 (LBO) – The Sri Lanka unit of Toroid, a Scandinavian transformer maker has licensed Microsoft software for its factories in an export processing zone in the island, Microsoft said. The software firm said its ‘Microsoft Enterprise Agreement’, which is tailored for use by firms that have more than 250 workstations, could bring savings and also provide customer support.
“The Enterprise Agreement creates more value for our customers as well as reduces risks of license non-compliance and associated costs,” Toroid International managing director Bo Lindberg said in a statement.
“Moreover, Toroid will have immediate access rights at all times during the terms of our enrolment to the most current versions of the enterprise platform products elected in the agreement.”
Toroid runs three plants in Sri Lanka’s Katunayake export processing zone, catering to the European market.
Microsoft Sri Lanka’s Pubudu Basnayake says the agreement allows customers to plan and implement information technology platforms based on their needs without negotiating new agreements every year.
