Nov 09, 2011 (LBO) – The Central Bank of Sri Lanka said it has been selected as a finalist from among 17 nominations for the ‘Best New Banknote Series’ award at an international currency forum. The award at the International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA) Conference held in Singapore was for new currency note series “Development, Prosperity and Sri Lanka Dancers” issued by the bank in February 2011.

The award was won by Bank of Uganda while the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the Central Bank of the Philippines won 2011 Best New Banknote Series Finalist awards, a statement said.

The award was received by De La Rue, the currency note printer of the new note series on behalf of the central bank.
