Sept 15, 2016 (LBO) – The Government of Sri Lanka says it condemns the nuclear test carried out by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on September 9th.

“Sri Lanka notes with concern that this is the second such test to be carried out by the DPRK this year,” a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

“Sri Lanka calls upon the DPRK to abide by its international obligations and refrain from any action which would compromise peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula,” the statement added.

Two U.S. B-1 bombers flew over South Korea on Tuesday in a show of solidarity with its ally, while a U.S. envoy called for a swift and strong response to Pyongyang from the United Nations.
