Sri Lanka Cricket back with a blast

May 09 (LBO) – Sri Lanka Cricket Tuesday said its financial health is back on a strong wicket after securing new commercial sponsorships from the sale of television rights and ongoing tournaments. Overall Sri Lanka Cricket Board has mange to come up with very strong figures in their financial standing compared to last 4-years.

For the year 2006 Sri Lanka Cricket Board is budgeting for income exceeding 500 million rupees.

"We need a net income of 500 million rupees each year to carry out our functions," said Seneviratne.

Net profits for the 12 months to December 2005 stood at 356.97 million rupees over a deficit of 321.54 million rupees.

The governing body saw total income surge three times to 966.91 million rupees over 398.62 million rupees reported in 2004.

Of this, income from international tournaments alone were up four folds to 881.78 million rupees in 2005 from 280.09 million rupees, as visiting teams from West Indies, Bangladesh and a tri-series between West Indies/India/Sri Lanka helped swell board coffers.
