Sept 11, 2018 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Finance Ministry has raised the petrol price to 149 rupees a litre from 145 rupees with effect from midnight September 10 and diesel to 123 rupees from 118 rupees.
In August, Sri Lanka increased the prices of petrol (95) by 2.00 rupees to 167 rupees and super diesel by 1.00 rupee to 130 rupees. The price of Petrol (92 octane) was kept unchanged at 145 rupees a litre and auto diesel at 118 rupees.
Keeping an election promise the government under President Maithripala Sirisena reduced fuel prices sharply in 2015.
In 2015 the price of a litre of 92-octane petrol was reduced from 150 to 117 rupees while the price of 95-octane petrol has been come down from 158 to 128 rupees.
