Sri Lanka hikes petrol, diesel prices: Cabinet approves fuel pricing formula

May 10, 2018 (LBO) - Sri Lanka has increased the prices of petrol and diesel following a cabinet decision to approve a fuel pricing formula. Petrol (92 octane) will increase to 137 rupees and petrol (95 octane) will be increased to148 rupees. Auto diesel will go up to109 rupees while super diesel will be sold at 119 rupees. The CPC fuel prices have been increased from midnight today. Keeping an election promise the government under President Maithripala Sirisena reduced fuel prices sharply in 2015. In 2015 the price of a litre of 92-octane petrol was reduced from 150 to 117 rupees while the price of 95-octane petrol has been come down from 158 to 128 rupees. (corrected)
